1. Preface

Recently, the proseminar about the “National Healthful Drinking Water and Sustainable Development Strategy” was held by Development Research Center of Council State P.R.China and CDI in Beijing.
Delegates had comments from the report “National healthcare should begin from healthful drinking water and matters about children” made by the vice minister of Development Research Center of Council State P.R.China. All the delegates agreed that protecting the water sources and improving drinking water quality are matters of great importance for pushing national healthful drinking water engineering. The advocated “Healthful Drinking Water Welfare Engineering for Children” will be able to resolve the problem of students’ drinking water thoroughly.
Students’ drinking water problem is still a difficulty for the schools and people are paying increasing attention to this problem. As a representative enterprise of water industry, our company is always concerned about this matter. The difficulty of schools is the subject of our company. We take it as our principle that providing high-quality drinking water suitable for human body, especially for the physiological needs of primary school and middle school students.

Genqao HUIYUAN high-quality water machine adopts exactitude membrane filtration, activated carbon absorption, ultra filtration, ozone or ultraviolet disinfection to purify tap water deeply. 2. Introduction of high-quality water
① The basic content of high-quality water
Eliminate the maximum poisonous and harmful materials in the water, especially heavy metal and organic pollutant and keep the maximum microelements like Selenium (Se) and Strontium (Sr) and minerals.
② Brief introduction
With the social development and improvement of living standards, people are paying increasing attention to the relationship between drinking water and health. Whereas, the economic development, the increasing population, industrialization, the increase of urbanization level, and the more serious water pollution all make it difficult to guarantee high-quality water treated by traditional water purification methods. The common purification processes cannot remove the soluble organic pollutants and the residual chlorine would combine with the organic pollutants to generate harmful halides when adding chlorine.
The foreign researches have shown that there is a bigger possibility of dying of digestion system and urology system cancers for those who drink water treated with chlorine for a long time than those who don’t. In addition, the aging of city pipes and the problems of municipal second water supply equipments make it increasingly difficult to ensure the safe drinking water and sanitation, which is owing to the shortcomings of the traditional purification methods. Huiyuan Water Company started to do research on water decades ago. It developed the first direct drinking water central purification unit with the latest materials in March, 1998. The purification station would be set in residential areas or schools in order to further process and purify water. And the purified water would be sent to every customer through independent high-quality water pipelines. It is characterized by: 1. To save shipping and transit, users can access at any time, just opening the tap. 2. Avoiding secondary pollution. The circulation pipelines are anticorrosion and antifurring with disinfection devices. 3. The water is more inexpensive than bottle or barreled water. General families and public institutions would accept the price.

3. The comparison among high-quality drinking water and pure water, mineral water
Pure water and mineral water are common in markets. Pure water adopts
reverse osmosis technique under high operation pressure, 1-10Mpa and consumes much energy source. And with its good entrapment capability, the machine would get majority of inorganic ions (including beneficial to human body) removed from the water. The long-term consumption of this kind of water will affect health and this method is therefore unsuitable for drinking water treatment. Although there tends to be higher TDS (water soluble solids) and various chemical elements in mineral water, the needed microelements for human body is limited, so whether low or high microelements are not conducive to health. Thus pure water and mineral water are both not suitable for long-term consumption.
At present, may small enterprises use natural ores to produce mineralized water, but the natural ores contain radioactive materials which will affect the water as well. So this kind of water is not healthy as well. As regards the high-quality pipe direct drinking water of HUIYUAN Company, the harmful materials are removed and meanwhile the beneficial microelements are kept with the help of the ultra filtration membrane technology, thus adapting to long-term use. So this water is better than the former two kinds.

Seven drinking water standards (proposed by Japanese medical doctor Schidephara ):
Not producing any toxic or harmful materials or materials with bad smell.
The hardness is between 30—300mg/L.
Moderate mineral content.
PH value is apt to be alkaline.
Moderate dissolved oxygen and carbon dioxide in water.
Water molecules in half width of less than 100Hz.
Strong water media nutritional physiological functions, such as solvency, penetrability, diffused metabolizability, emulsification and clean power, etc..
The above seven standards are proposed from the view of nutrition and health requirements. The criteria have been confirmed by “Standards for Drinking Water Quality” of urban construction industry in P.R.China. The water up to the standards is considered to be ideal healthful drinking water, i.e., the high-quality drinking water in this article. Since time immemorial, men’s drinking water is natural surface water and groundwater, the salt of which is necessary and essential for human. Doctor Martin from the USA drew the conclusion from plenty of human body experiments and animal experiments that those who drink water with rich TDS and moderate hardness has less chance to catch chronic diseases like cancer, heart diseases and hypertension than those who drink water with low TDS and hardness. That is because the minerals in the water with certain TDS and hardness can not only supply necessary microelements but also lower the absorption of toxic substances (lead, cadmium, fluoride, etc.). In another way, the minerals inside prevent the toxic substances from playing harmful effects.

China also has the similar examples. For example, Jilin province did a research on the relationship between drinking water and fluorosis. The result indicates that in the areas with high fluoride content (as high as mg/L which is twice as the national standard) and high hardness of water there is no fluorosis. But in other regions with lower fluoride content than national standard and lower water hardness, there are many fluorosis cases. Obviously, the moderate hardness of water is extremely important to human body.

Dr. John Sorenson, a mineral metabolism theoretical authority, believes that it is easy to absorb minerals in water. The rate of essential elements of metabolism to non-essential elements is determined by the essential elements. If the essential elements are enough, the non-essential elements are few or not absorbed and drained. For example, if there is little amount of calcium ions and magnesium ions in water, the cells may choose lead, a non-essential element, thus resulting in the troubles of proteinic enzyme, i.e. toxicosis. This conclusion tells us that it is needed to drink water with proper TDS and hardness. (It is worth noticing that the hardness of water is always emphasized to be moderate, not high or low.) What’s more, pure water is apt to be acidic, with corrosion and little TDS and hardness. Removing the minerals from the pure water would change the water frame and long-term using would affect nutrient absorption and utilization, resulting in deposition and accelerating the loss of nutrients.
And the change of the frame of pure water molecule groups would lead to the reduction of physiological function. Furthermore, pure water just solves the problem of water pollution not the water degradation problems.

The “HUIYUAN” direct pipe drinking water purification units, developed by GENQAO Tech, adopts imported fine filtration, intenerate, activated carbon absorption, ozone sterilization and hollow-fiber ultra filtration to kill bacteria and viruses in the water and remove poisonous organic substances and heavy metal ions, lowering the water hardness. Meanwhile the ozone generated form electrolyzing pure water can disinfect the drinking water and make oxygen-rich water meeting the sanitary requirements. This unit has got the sanitary permission issued by the Ministry of Health. (The second article of the regulations of Ministry of Health: since July 1, 1998, any enterprise is not allowed to sell products relevant to drinking water safety without the sanitary permission.) And this unit has passed the ISO 9002 quality system certification. Shandong provincial Epidemic Prevention Station recommended solemnly this unit and this unit became the designated product for campus drinking water project.

3. Brief introduction of cooperative drinking water project
In order to supply healthy drinking water to all the teachers and students, our company together with schools started a “campus drinking-water project”, investing all of our purification equipments.
①. Investment:
The “Central Water Purification Unit”, developed by Genqao Tech, is the promoted product by provincial campus management of production and supply. The promotion was greatly supported by Board of Education, teaching equipment stations and work-study programs in the cities. Hereby we are expressing our heartfelt gratitude. The basic cooperation forms abide by the following principles:
Genqao Tech is in charge of installation of units equipment, commissioning and after-sales service and the property right belongs to Genqao Tech. The school is in charge of machine-room facilities, water source, projects, power, operation management (including the water rates and electric charges of the machine-room), water testing and taking over and handing in water rates. The cooperation period is 5 years. Take over every student certain fees at the beginning of each semester according to the actual number of students. And hand in the total money to Genqao Tech at the end of March and September.
② The machine-room
The school should provide a machine-room of 30—40 m2 with tap water inlet and waste water outlet, power supply of 220v—380v and heating equipment (ensuring normal operation in winter).
③ Water supply (in term of the school demands)
The first method: direct pipe drinking water
Pave specialized pipes to every classroom, equipped with a direct drinking water machine or 1—2 taps, ensuring that the students can in the classroom. And supply the teachers free bottled or barreled water.
The second method: a water supplying position in each floor
Lay specialized pipes to every floor, choosing a proper position as centralized water supplying position with which 4—6 taps are equipped. And supply the teachers free bottled or barreled water.

4. Program running:
This campus drinking water project serves the students directly. Our company would do our best to make sure that the water is safe and healthy, and the normal operation of equipments. At the same time the school should promise to hand in the total charges on time.
5. Program management:
As regards the water rates, electric charges, material fee and labor pays, the school and Genqao would distribute commitment. If our company is in charge of technical training, the school should be in charge of management and all the costs. If our company is in charge of management, we will offer all the costs as well. The two parties can confer the concrete scheme. Anyway, our company will ensure the normal operation of the equipments and the water safety and the maximum price concession to the school.
6. Water quality standards
Water quality is sure to up to the Drinking Water Quality Standards (CJ94—1999). And the water quality is checked by the local health and quarantine department.

The end:
HUIYUAN central water purification unit has got the sanitary permission issued by the Ministry of Health and is serving many schools in more than 10 cities. It is also the promoted purification unit and cooperation program to the provincial primary and middle schools.
