Swimming Pool Ozone System 
 

When you are swimming in the pool, you are surrounded by the water, which may get into your mouth. If the water is not healthy, it may bring some diseases to your eyes, skin and breathing apparatus. What’s worse is that it may cause  typhus, cholera, syphilis, red dysentery and so on. Meanwhile the water may be polluted by the germs brought by swimmers, so disinfection equipment must be installed. The traditional method is the chlorine disinfection whose disinfectant includes chlorin(liquid chlorin usually), merchlore, merichlore dioxide, chloramine, bleaching powder and bleaching extract. But this method would damage eyes and breathing apparatus erode the equipments and pipes in swimming pool and need good management, otherwise accident would happen. And touching the water containing chlorin for a long period would make your hair turn grey and skin dry. What’s more, the chlorine ramifications may be carcinogen which can damage people’s heath greatly

 
 
Design of disinfection system

     1.  Ozone system CT value

"C" represents the ozone concentration whose unit of measurement is "mg/L"; "T" represents the contact time whose unit of measurement is "min"; CT value expressses disinfection validity. For example, the ozone concentration is 0.4mg/L, the contact time is 4min, and the CT value is 1.6. The features of swimming pool water are as following:

⑴ The water is of closed circulation, at least 4 times one day.

⑵ Needed oxidant is increasing with the increasing of swimmers.

⑶ The regular temperature of the water is between 5 and 40.

Chlorine is needed to be the assistant disinfector.

The swimming pool circulation water is disinfected with ozone after being filtered. That the CT value is 1.6 is safe for the swimming pool disinfection system. In some areas CT value is taken as 0.8, ozone concentration 0.2mg/L0.25mg/L and contact time 3.5min4min, when the amount of chlorine, the assistant disinfectant, is reduced to 65%. When chlorine is a primary disinfectant and ozone fine treatment disinfectant, CT value can be less than 0.8, ozone concentration less than 0.5mg/L and contact time less than 1min.

 
2. The oxidation of zone and water


Ozone is led into water through injector fit in bypass pipe, where pipe pump is installed to ensure the inlet pressure of injector. The water and the ozone mixed liquor go into reaction tin from the upside. After being mixed completely, they go out from the underside and connect with the main pipe of the swimming pool circulation water. After the water in bypass pipe is disinfected under high ozone concentration, the water in bypass and main pipes will mix and be oxidized. That the circulation period of commercial swimming water is 6 hours and the flow rate of bypass pipe is 15%~5% as that of main pipe ensure the good mass transfer efficiency and enough contact time before ozone goes into the main pipe.

 
3. Ozone output

                                              Ozone output (g/h) = flow rate of circulation water (m3/h) × ozone concentration (g/m3)

                                               The dissolved ozone in water would be oxidized, disinfected and sterilized.

                                              The exhaust valve in the top of reaction tin should be connected with ozone

                                              breakdown setting in order to eliminate undissolved ozone before going into   the air.

                                             The capability of reaction tin (m3) = flow rate of circulation water ( m3/h) ×

                                             percentage of bypass water × reaction time

The saturation concentration of water abides by Henry Law within the swimming pool water temperature bound, that is, the higher the ozone concentration in the ozone generator is, the higher the water saturation concentration is, and the higher the mass transfer balance concentration of dissolved ozone and so is the disinfection. This point should be taken into account when choosing onzone generator.
